WE DID IT!!!!!!

UPDATE: Read the official McCain campaign press release.
------
Every network is reporting that Gov. Palin will be introduced as McCain's pick shortly. I'l have a lot more later, but needless to say I am positively elated.

(Note: Thanks to my great boss, Matt Lewis, and Townhall.com for allowing me to blog on the clock today!)

So, you're saying that Obama has experience? Name one thing he has accomplished in the Senate.

What has Palin done? She stopped the Bridge to Nowhere, she exposed corrupt politicians, she's led a state for two years, she was mayor of a town, among other things.

We need someone who will fight corruption and help us reach energy self-sufficiency. Pall has an amazing plan for it! We need McCain & Palin, we don't need Obama & Biden!

Because I live in Alaska and have seen her in action. She has done remarkable things for Alaska and if the given the opportunity could do it for our nation. It would definately be a better place.

I do agree the Bush administration has messed alot of things up over the last 8 years. This will change if McCain and Palin are elected. She has one thing on her side. She is not a typical politian.

Reply to wk4christ ... oh great ... here they all come now ... lordy, lordy ... let's all pray ... Actually, I guess I'll have to take up praying if the Reps get back in. I stand more of a chance of G-d listening to me than I do these people. They only hear the tinkle of their own bank accounts.

Ah, Charles ... that explains it! Too much fresh air ...

ugotta & imright: Why don't you list for us the many qualifications you believe your POTUS candidate brings to this contest?

Your question is specious. No one truly expects the V.P. to be "ready to lead on day one". But it can certainly be argued that a woman who maintains a 80% approval rate as governor of her state is more than capable of stepping into top office if/when it should become necessary.

We know neither of you are "legitimately concerned" about her LACK of ability. Your concern is what this turn of events does for the party you love to hate.

BLOGSITE EDITOR:
Please BLOCK posts from Ugottabkidding and his/her MEAN-MINDED ILK!

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, Palin supporters:

McCain has been kicking against Bush's plans for years already. I haven't always agreed with McCain or with Bush at times, but NO one can say that McCain has supported Bush's programs/proposals wholeheartedly.

Did you know that the "93% votes with Bush" (or whatever high figure they're using at the moment) counts really unimportant votes, such as when all the Senators vote that Aug. 12 is Drink Milk Day or stuff like that?----little not-very-crucial measures like that?

In other words, if you counted all the votes McCain has cast on VERY important bills, his percentage of agreement with Bush would be FAR LOWER. Obama's staff knows this fact perfectly well, but they are DISHONEST and aren't telling the public this.

Not that I dislike Bush as much as many people do; I think the liberals have been crappy to him all the time:

When he went into Iraq, they ALL voted with him (well, except for IL State Senator---not US, but IL Senator----Obama)-----but they wouldn't admit that later, without whining that Bush "lied." (Which he didn't; they FOUND the yellow cake later, and just sent it this summer safely to Canada....NO LIES)

When Bush took us to war vs. Iraq, the liberals threw fits, saying "Don't you DARE take a lot of US troops and upset the Muslims!" SO he didn't overuse the troops----and couldn't win, either.

So then the Liberals started whining around, "Send more troops!" Remember that?

Well, McCain agreed that more troops were needed and he finally persuaded the Bush administration to send more: the surge.

NATURALLY, the liberals then decried the success of the surge.

Face it: NO conservative is going to win with liberals; they won't let it happen.

SO---what we need is common sense, such as McCain and Palin will bring us, where we really DO try to get things done, even if we have to compromise or change plans............

I'm just so proud of Senator McCain, and of Palin for accepting this difficult job. (And I don't think it's necessary to slam Bush to support them, either.)

I lived for years 2 blocks south of (gulp) Obama's house! Ack! I know people who work with Michelle, and know people who work out in the gym with Obama. You know: the "radical chic" crowd in Hyde Park. Our eldest is on the Obama staff in CA (sad).

I sure wished last night that I knew someone/anyone on the McCain team! What a long night!!!!

Maybe a dose of fresh air is what you need, ugotta. Who knows, it could be just the thing to help you begin recovering from your sever case of BDS.

Take a few days off over the Labor Day weekend. Don't watch any T.V. or read any newspapers. Turn off your computer. Get out and enjoy some of the wonders of this beautiful country. Ask yourself where in the world life could be any better than the good old U.S. of A.

Couldn't hurt. Might help. We're all wishing you a speedy recovery.

But since someone just before me brought up supposed corruption in my town of Chicago, I guess asking about the Monegan "execution" is open game. It appears that their may be a bit of corruption up there in Juneau as well. Ya think?

To Mountain Mama -- Common sense? Where is yours? I read all the rhetoric you just wrote -- I even saw the article you copied it all from! The sad part is that you believe it all -- hook, line and sinker. Block me? I think not! You just can't stand the idea that not everyone is as gullible as you and believes all that "stuff" that you spout. Obviously, this is a right-wing blog ... and it has been my pleasure to bring to it a little humor this afternoon. If I've annoyed or even mildy irritated any of you -- I have had a successful day. :-) You all keep up your "happy dreams" ... I'll see you at the polls in November!

I'm sorry. I really was going to sign off this blog. Really. But I really wanted someone to responsd to the Monegan issue. I'm guessing that some of the "Draft Palin" campaign people on this blog might be employees of the State of Alaska and are probably under investigation as well. But there must be someone who can tell me if it is legal to have an Alaskan state official fired because he refused to fire one of his employees who happened to anger the governor by divorcing her sister. Is that legal up there? I'm not sure you can do that in the Federal government. Unless your Cheny. Is she a Cheny?

wk4christ said...

Governor Palin said that the firing had nothing to do with an ex-brother-in-law.....she said that divorce had occurred a long time ago.

Someone on here said that the guy that she wanted to fire was drinking beer in his car and did something with a child....

Adam Brickley, I just have two words for you: Steve Bartman.

If McCain loses, I'd change your name.

IMriteURnot said...

And this is the direct responsibility of the governor?? Isn't it Monegan's job to investigate these claims, make a decision as to their validity and deal with matter through his office??? How come the governor had such a bug up her ass? Maybe because she didn't like the officer because of a messy divorce with her sister. Just a thought worth looking into. And I understand that is what the State Legislature is going to do. Not sure what will come out of it, but it's an ugly tic against her. Dick Cheny is on the phone. Gotta go....

Mountain Mama said...

Rats, I forgot to add this to my post:

It is literally a SCREAM to watch the drive-bys and liberal pundits sputter about how inexperienced PALIN is!

HUNH? Obama has NO CEO experience, and fewer years in office than Palin, by far----and he's spent 2 of 3 years in the US Senate running around the USA, telling everyone how wonderful he is. Sad.......

Face it, liberals: The top of the Republican ticket has the years of experience in foreign policy, whereas the bottom of the Dem ticket has this.

And Palin is MORE EXPERIENCED than Obama.

wk4christ said...

Ok, thanks mountain momma! Things have been so distorted, I was only repeating what I heard....

I am really excited about Palin, though! She is my favorite candidate of all time! I don't care what the liberals say: Palin is AMAZING!!!!!

IMriteURnot said...

Hey Mountain Mama, there is a issue of potential fraud on the table. Why don't you respond? Why is it that the Republican President's choose VP her are criminals or inept? Is it an insurance policy against impeachment? Nixon had his Agnew. Bush has his Cheny. Now McCain has his Palin. Insurance.

Mountain Mama said...

imrite,

No, you are misinformed, plenty!

First, Palin isn't facing a charge of "fraud." Use your words more carefully! She's under investigation for abuse of power.

Why don't YOU go check out Adam Brickley's expertly precise apology (that's a precise term, imrite, so look it up!) about the whole trooper mess (sorry, Marcia and others, for using that awful T word! grin).......okay? Check out the video, and then we'll discuss it.

So within minutes of saying I like the McCain/Palin ticket, one of my liberal friends wrote to me and called me and the rest of my party sexist. I just dont get it. You try to have a conversation with them about Obama's experience being at the top of the ticket and all, and they just resort to namecalling. Sure theyre for free speech, as long as you agree with them. If the diehard liberals would put as much energy into running a government as they do strategizing and coming up with new childish things to throw out to the hope-notized media lapdogs, they wouldnt have the rating they have now and actually might get something done.

I just heard about Palin this morning and I <3 her :)

The results of the investigation into Sarah Palin's controversial firing of former state Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan are due to be released in October. Dear "Zwilight:"

Ever heard of an "expression?" Palin meant to make a point, clearly: "I want to take the VP job IF they give me some clout. I'm not interested in sitting in the Senate and making public appearances only."

She was wise to make this point.

Btw, GORE made the same point, and got it IN WRITING BEFORE ACCEPTING the slot. You know the Clintons: gotta get everything IN WRITING!
(chuckle)

I think Obama is done, Hillary Clinton knows that the only reason she loss was because white working class Democratic men in certain states as well as young men 18-34 refused to support her. The DNC sabotaged her campaign. Howard Dean despises the Clintons. The media dislikes her. She knows that this will be her lasting legacy, that is by helping McCain elect the first female VP ever. Even if Obama loss the Democrats would never nominate her for President in 2012 or 2016. She knows this. Hillary is not stupid. Go McCain/Palin 2008!

Richard said...

The dividends of the American experiment is coming full circle in 2008. What a proud, exhilarating moment for we ordinary masses. One of us seems to finally be inching towards the "People's House." Gov. Palin is remarkable -- a standout because of her refreshing ordinariness. For months we have heard how Barack Obama is one of us. But those of us who are not liberal democrats are repulsed by such a statement.

Now, however, those of us who champion life, those of us who adore freedom, those of us who think we know best how to guide our lives, and those of us who believe in the bedrock, spiritual principles upon which this nation is positioned, now, now we have our voice. We have someone who is like us!

We're energized, brimming with pride, and embrace a vigorous debate which will pit old-time political hacks against the new light of a fresh, humble, conservative wave of optimism.

Everybody is going on and on about a "lack" of experience.
Folks must not have paid attention in Geography class - Alaska connects directly to Russia, negotiates yearly (if not more often) on fishery rights, pipeline rights of way, and deals with Canada as well on other issues. This speaks to me of someone who has a smattering of international intelligence (remember big bad Russia?). NO, not a bit of experience there....riiiiiight.
Do a little more research on the woman and realize the depth that is really there. Hmmmm, interesting that misogynistic views keep popping up. beauty Pageants do a lot more than just put pretty girls on stage. I will not enumerate them here, this is a political discussion not a debate on beauty pageants. How often though does a former beauty queen achieve far more than is expected? If you don't know, GO LOOK IT UP!
So being a mayor and a governor means she has no experience running government? Have you talked to your local mayor, commissioner, fire chief? These folks know how to lead and do so in an emergency (can anyone say Rudy Giuliani?) Yea, he had no experience did he?
Predictions are just that, predictions - hindsight is 20/20 and we will be able to observe that in a few short months. I don't think we've seen the last of her yet. Sh seems to be a straight shooter(no pun intended) and has a belief in what's right and what's not. I think her record of shaking things up quite frankly scares the sh** out of a lot of people - especially the estabblished "old-boy" network.
I will say that I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in Pelosi's office! HaHa! A strong woman having to deal with another strong woman - love it, love it, love it.
Too many variables right now folks - picking at each other makes us no better than the "talking heads".

Also a side note - I wonder if she wrote her own speech? A journalist in government - wow!

Just thought I would thank you for your work in helping John McCain concede. Without all your effort to place the least likely and least strategic candidate as his running mate, there was a good chance that McCain would have made a sensible choice, which would have left the election in an ambiguous state, where either candidate could win. Now that Palin is on the ticket, McCain's loss has been assured.
